Pela primeira vez realizada na Guatemala, a Conferência Latino-Americana da AES 2012 aconteceu de 06 a 08 de agosto na Escola Superior de Arte da Universidade Galileo.

Com a posição diferenciada que a região da América Central possui em relação ao resto do continente e nas características próprias da sua indústria de áudio, como a tecnologia criativa e inovadora e um índice crescente de jovens interessados em ingressar no mercado de áudio, a LAC teve papel importante, também, para o desenvolvimento da profissionalização e expansão da indústria, aumentando a oportunidade de troca de conhecimento e acordos inovadores.

Além de reunir as principais empresas de áudio do mercado local, a Conferência trouxe debates relevantes com temas importantes como: “Tendências de negócios na indústria” ; “Análise Acústica de Grandes Auditórios”; “Processo e Conceitos de Produção Musical”; “Tecnologias de Sintetizadores de Software”.

Joel Brito, vice-presidente da AES América Latina, foi um dos congressistas ao lado de nomes de destaque como Walter Flores, vencedor de 4 prêmios Grammy, que é produtor, músico e arranjador.

Joel comentou sobre as carreiras focadas em áudio e da importância do estudo. “A ideia de que apenas nascer querendo ser artista é suficiente é uma ideia equivocada. Algumas carreiras no mundo do áudio necessitam inclusive de doutorado. O que a experiência diz é que é bom estudar em qualquer profissão, inclusive na arte”.

Para Walter Flores, “se você não tem conhecimentos técnicos em áudio, você fica limitado em fazer muitas coisas. Um músico sem conhecimento está em desvantagem. O conhecimento é uma ferramenta para se fazer mais coisas em menos tempo”, lembrou.

Uma das principais novidades desse ano foi a transmissão ao vivo, pela internet, de todo o evento.  Foi realizada também uma competição estudantil de gravação, que teve como vencedor Adrián Mendéz.
